THE PRESIDENT MEETS WITH NATO SECRETARY GENERAL, JENS STOLTENBERG

President Salih received today at his residence in Davos NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg. The two leaders discussed the last decision of the Council of Representatives on the withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraq, stressed the importance of respecting Iraq's sovereignty and its independent decision.
Developments of the security situation, in addition to the necessity of uprooting terrorism and supporting security and stability in Iraq and the region, have been reviewed by the two sides.

President Barham Salih has arrived to Baghdad, today Monday, April 1, 2019, after an active participation in the Arab summit in its 30th session in Tunis.
On the sidelines of the summit, His Excellency met with a number of kings and leaders of brotherly countries, as well as with the UN Secretary-General, and the EU's Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Chief.

Statement: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemns Terrorist Attack in Ahwaz

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry expressed its strong condemnation and for the terrorist attack on Ahwaz, which resulted in the deaths of several members of the Iranian security services and civilians.

The Foreign Ministry reiterates Iraq's firm stance on the rejection of violence regardless of motives, reasons and in any country, which would tarnish the security and stability of the country.

The ministry expresses its condolences to the victims' families, the government and the people of the Islamic Republic, and wishes the wounded speedy recovery.
