THE PRESIDENT MEETS WITH NATO SECRETARY GENERAL, JENS STOLTENBERG

President Salih received today at his residence in Davos NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg. The two leaders discussed the last decision of the Council of Representatives on the withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraq, stressed the importance of respecting Iraq's sovereignty and its independent decision.
Developments of the security situation, in addition to the necessity of uprooting terrorism and supporting security and stability in Iraq and the region, have been reviewed by the two sides.

President Barham Salih has arrived to Baghdad, today Monday, April 1, 2019, after an active participation in the Arab summit in its 30th session in Tunis.
On the sidelines of the summit, His Excellency met with a number of kings and leaders of brotherly countries, as well as with the UN Secretary-General, and the EU's Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Chief.
The President also delivered Iraq's speech at the summit, in which he asserted that the basic principle of Iraq's international relations is joint action with all on the basis of common interests.

SG of GSCOM, Dr. Mahdi Al-Alaq, met the Republic of Finland Non-Resident Ambassador, Mrs. Befi Leen, to discuss the cooperation to implement a proposal regarding the youth aged 20-40 years old and the role of the related sides to prepare a suitable headquarter to manage the project, 3000 volunteers will participate to be implemented, she said.

AL-Alaq said, the Iraqi Government depends on the youth in developing the country and he promised to discuss the details of proposal with the related sides to support it.

In the aim of enhancing confidence in the electoral process, achieving wide participation in the elections, and ensuring integrity and organization, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution No. 2576, to renew the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), until May 27, 2022.
The resolution contains strong elements, adopted for the first time to send a UN team to monitor elections in Iraq.
